Location and history
With a picturesque view of the Yantra River. The architecture of the 19th century here naturally coexists with the high demands of the modern world, here traditional, warm care is combined with modern luxury, style and elegance. Respect for the past and the history of the building on General Gurko Street, in which several eras are embedded, are the basis of the family project.
The restoration of the stone structure of the building from the 1960s, located on the first level, required craftsmanship and time. The result is impressive – the restoration preserves the vaults and narrow windows characteristic of the Revival houses. Bridges Residence has become the face of modern hospitality in Veliko Tarnovo and a magnet for travelers. Bridges Residence connects history with the city, the past with the future, tradition with the modern world. But, above all, it connects people.
Aroma and atmosphere
This five-star haven for modern travelers has its own irresistible scent. Lavender, eucalyptus, and lemon touch the senses from the moment you step through the door, and the blend of essential oils acts as a therapy for the soul. When you set off again, the memory of this intoxicating scent will take you back to your days here.

Towards the Middle Ages
After the aromatic coffee and breakfast on the terrace of Bridges Residence, the question comes: “Now where to?” Of course – to the Middle Ages! Just 10 minutes from the hotel, on a nearby hill, rises the impressive Tsarevets fortress from the Second Bulgarian Kingdom (1185–1396). Among the high stone walls, towers and battlements, the imagination draws men in armor, and the ringing of spears and the clatter of horse hooves echo in the ears. If you want to see the fortress in its full glory, do not miss the spectacle “Sound and Light”. The show can be watched both for free and with a ticket from the panoramic terrace.
From Tsarevets the road is only downhill, but the foothills are also dotted with priceless pieces of history. You walk from the fortress to the river and reach the church of "St. Forty Martyrs". From there, over the Vladishki Bridge, you enter the Asenova neighborhood and face a legend of perfectly arranged stones and bricks. Consecrated in 1185, the church of "St. Demetrius of Solun" is a historical beauty. From it begins the powerful uprising against Byzantium and the rise of the famous Bulgarian medieval dynasty of Asenevtsi.
To the Samovodska Bazaar
After your journey through the Middle Ages, head to the charming 19th-century shopping street known as the Samovodska Bazaar. Along the way, you can visit the Archaeological Museum or at least take a peek into its magnificent courtyard with marble statues. Then, the artisan shops of the bazaar await you. A favorite spot is the pottery shop and workshop “Chupi-Kupi”. With a reservation in advance and a little dexterity, you can create your own plate here using the old sgraffito technique. The cobblestones will also lead you to the merchant Hadji Nikoli’s inn, built by the Bulgarian National Revival master Kolyu Ficheto. Behind its heavy wooden gate, there are often interesting exhibitions.
